Sarah Jane Coopersmith died peacefully, May 9, 2004, at the age of 82.
Sarah was born to Etta May and Carl Haugen, December 2, 1921, in Roseville, Mich.; where she also attended school.
She married Albert John Coppersmith Aug 10, 1940, in Bryon, Ohio, in a double ceremony including Al's brother Layman Wood and his wife Madelyn. Al preceeded Sarah in death in 2003.
Al and Sarah lived in Adrian, Mich., for 17 years before moving with their family to Tillamook in 1976. Her father was born here. Her grandparents homesteaded what is now Kilchis Park. There were many relatives she was able to meet. She enjoyed living in Tillamook. She was always commenting on how beautiful the mountains and the ocean are.
Sarah devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother, occasionally taking jobs selling Stanley Home Products, being a cashier for Kroger Company and sales person at JC Penney.
She was a member of the Home Extension, the local TOPS Club and the Tillamook Ladies of Elks. She also loved reading. It took her on many journeys to far away places she knew she would never see. She never made plans on a Thursday afternoon because thoes days were spent plaing her favorite card game, "hand and foot," with her friends.
Sarah is survived by four children, Gary Coopersmith of Bodega Bay, Calif.; Judy Hickman of Swanton, Ohio, A. John Coopersmith and Cheryl Noteboom, both of Tillamook; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sarah also has a brother Asa LeRoy Haugen of Detroit, Mich., and two
sisters, Anne Garmen of Sun City, Ariz., and Mary Hallstrom of Tillamook. She also has several nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Sarah's life Friday, May 21, at the Tillamook Elks Lodge at 1 p.m.
Friends and family are invited to take part and share their memories of her. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be make to the Tillamook SMART Program, which is designed to help children learn to read, or to the Tillamook County Libary.

Surrounded by the love of her family, Mary E. Hallstrom died Dec. 27. She was born Dec. 30, 1929, to Carl and Ettamay (Heckathorn) Haugen in Roseville, Mich.
As a young girl, she moved to Tillamook with her father and stepmother, Nellie.
She graduated in Tillamook High School's class of 1948, where she met the love of her life,
Olof Hallstrom.
They were married June 12, 1949, and lived on their family farm, where they remained
together in love until his passing in May 2009.
Mary dedicated herself to raising their five children. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and
play cards in her spare time.
She worked by Olof's side as he started their business, Hallco Manufacturing Company, watching it grow into an international venture.
She enjoyed traveling and visited many states, as well as Canada, Holland, England, China and Panama Canal.
Her friends were precious to her and she spent time with them at Toastmistresses. TOPS and Ladies of the Elks, often holding positions with-in the organization.
She was an active member and friend of St. John's United Church of Christ for more than 50 years.
Her particular joy was watching her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren learn and grow.
Mary is survived by her children, Vicki and Al Anderson, Steve and Rosan, Cindi and Dave Williams, Dan and Cheryl, and Penni and Kevin Pike; sister Anne Garmin' brother Asa (Roy) Haugen; and sister-in-law Margaret Winslow.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Coopersmith.
Other survivors include step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial for Mary will be held at Waud's Funerl Home on Jan. 10 at 1 p.m.

Olof A. Hallstrom
Olof A. Hallstrom passed away May 27, 2009, surrounded by love and family.
Olof was born Dec 28, 1929 in Tillamook to the late Olof Alfred and Anna Lorraine (Schild) Hallstrom.
Olof attended Tillamook High School graduating in 1948. It was at THS that he met the one love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Haugen.
They married June 12, 1949, and settled on the family farm in Tillamook, where they raised five children.While running the family dairy, he "tinkered" with his many inventions, which eventually culminated in the start of Hallco Manufacturing Company.
He held many patens on his inventions and enjoyed the success of growing his business, along with his sons steve and Dan, into one that has become known throughout the world.
Ole, as he was known by most, is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Hallstrom, and his five children: Vicki and Al Anderson, Steve and Rosan, Cindi and Dave Williams, Dan and Cheryl, and Penni and Kevin Pike.
Together, Ole and Mary enjoyed watching their five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren keep their own parents busy.
Olof is also survived by his sister Margaret Winslow, and nephews George and Jim Winslow.
He was precided in death by his half sister, Sigrid Hanks.
Other suvivors include several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a step-granddaughter.
A recption celebrating Olofs life will be held June 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hallco Industries, 1600 Hallstrom Rood in Tillamook. All are welcome to gather with the family at this time of remembrance.
Olof was intersted in seeing the Tillamook County YMCA expand and be accessible to those with handicaps. Therefore, remberances may be make in his name to the Tillamook YMCA in care of Waud's Fneral Home, 1414 Third St. Tillamook, Oregon 9741

Obitt for Elizabeth E. Trattner
Elizabeth E. Trattner the daughter of Thore Haugen and Eva Jane Cobbler Haugen was born in Bay City, Oregon (The property that is now the Kilchis River Park) May 27, 1896, and died in Tillamook on March 28, at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Trattner was a life long resident of Bay City and Tillamook.
Shortly after finishing her schooling she was married to Oscar Trattner. Mr. Trattner preceded her in death in 1947.
She was a member of Tillamook County Pioneer Association and the Tillamook First Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Peas, Tacoma, Wash.; sons Harland of Garibaldi and Edward of Tillamook; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grand children.
Graveside services for Mrs. Trattner were held Tuesday, March 31, in the Bay City IOOF Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Kooy officiating.

O. R. Trattner Dies July 1
Oscar Rudolph Trattner was born at Oshkosh, Wisconsin,
and passed away at his home in Idaiville, near Bay City, Oregon,
on Jully 1, 1947, at the age of 65 years.
Mr. Trattner is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Trattner of
Idaville: one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Ellen Orr of Tillamook;
two sons, Edward D. Trattner of Tillamook: and Harlin R. Trattner
of Garibaldi: one sister, Mrs. Isabelle Fennell of Canada, and
one brother, Joseph Trattner of England.
Services will be held in the Memorial Chapel of Lundberg
and Son, at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 3, with Rev. Jess Johnson
officiating. Lee Doty will be soloist, accompied by Mrs. D. H. Near
at the console of the Hammond organ.
Final rites will be conducted at the Bay City I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Harlin R. Trattner was born on July 14, 1920 in Forman, Alberta, Canada and died at his home on Moss Creek Road just off the Miami-Foley Road on July 2, at the age of 78.
Harlin move from Canada when he was just three years old. The family settled in Portland, where Harlin attended school. After completing his schooling he moved to Tillamook and joined the CCC.
He was united in marriage to Lorraine Wilcox on August 23, 1942.
In September of 1942 he was inducted into the U.S. Army for World War II.
After his discharge from the service he returned to Tillamook and went to work for Dolan's driving a truck. He then worked for the county road department for two years before working a short time for Oregon-Washington Plywood. He then returned to the county road department were he spent 35+years, retiring as heavy duty equipment foreman at age 62.
Harlin is survived by his wife Lorraine of Garibaldi; daughter, Deanna Whitehouse, Seattle, Wash.; son, Richard Trattner, Tillamook; brother, Ed Trattner, Tillamook; sister, Betty Pease, Tacome, Wash.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Disposition was by cremation with no funeral services. Arragements in care of Waud's Funeral Home and Crematory.

Obituary for Henry John Whitehouse
Henry John Whitehouse passed away April 12 at the age of 83 years old. He was born April 25, 1928, to Henry John Whitehouse and Norah Agnes (Browne) Whitehouse, in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
After graduating from high school at the age of 18, he went to work for Queens Printing in Victoria BC, Canada, where he learned his trade, becoming a Book Binder.
Where he learned leather binding and repairing of old leather books. It's almost a lost art.
Henry arrived in Seattle 8 Aug 1952. He was on his way to San Francisco, CA. He even had a job waiting for him. But he liked Seattle and decided to stay.
When he arrived in Seattle 1952, he went to work for L&H Printing. He also worked for University of Washington where he worked in the library repairing old leather books. Then he worked for Metropolitan Press. Bayless Bindery for a number of years and Frank Potter, Frayn Printing, Print NW in Fife who was then sold to Quebicore of Canada, and he worked there till he retired on Oct. 30, 1998.
He became a citizen on 8 June 1959.
Henry married his first wife Dorothy Marie Walker and mother to all three of his children. They later divorced in 1971.
Second marriage was to Deanna Lorraine Trattner, December 30, 1971 in Seattle, King, WA.
Henry was Baptized at the Cambridge Seventh Day Adventist Church on Oct 8, 2005 at the age of 76, with Grandson Tyrel Wolfe 12 years old and Granddaughter Sarah Wolfe 8 years and turned 9 years old on the 9th. Brenda Walch from 3ABN was there for Sarah's big day. The church was filled. What a day for everyone.
Before Henry had so many health issues he loved to go camping, fishing, and visiting family and friends in Victoria, BC, Canada, Oregon and Idaho.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Henry J Whitehouse on 18 Apr 1978 and Norah Agnes Rose (Browne) Whitehouse on 22 Jun 2002 both in Victoria, BC, Canada.
His brother in-law Gordon Stater on 22 Oct 2010 of Victoria, BC, Canada. First wife Dorothy Marie (Walker) Gustin in 1986 Seattle, King, WA.
Survived by the love of his live of 40 years, Deanna Lorraine Whitehouse.
Two sons Gary Joseph Whitehouse of Kirkland, and Dean Russell and Amy Whitehouse of Edmonds, WA. One daughter Kristine Barbara and Ron Kuhlman of Marysville, WA. TILLAMOOK, May 12 (Special) - Charles A Wilcox, 63, a resident of Garibaldi for 39 Years,
died Monday night in the Tillamook General hospital after a lingering illness.
He is survived by his widow Blanche: a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Trattner: and a son Lyle
all of Garibaldi. Also one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Curry of Corvalis and a brother, Luther,
of Glendive, Mont.
Funeral services will be Thursday, at 2 p. m. in the Lundgerg and Son Funeral home.
Interment will be in the Bay City 100F Cemetery.

Lyle A. Wilcox died Aug. 6, 2007. He was born to Charles and Blanche Wilcox June 4, 1925, in Sandlake, and lived most of his life in Garibaldi, graduating from Garibaldi High School. Before he graduated, he enlisted in the Navy during World War II and served his country for two years.
He then returned to Garibaldi and married Dorothy Randal and with this union two sons were born. He worked for years driving log truck in Tillamook, last for Hopke Logging. Dorothy and Lyle divorced after 24 years. Lyle married Doris Barker and later they divorced.
Lyle moved in 1975 to Gates and drove log truck for Fred Moore Logging in Mill City. During this time he married Janice Rice, formerly of Tillamook. Lyle retired in 1992 only to return to drive for Henness Logging in Gates until 2000. At age 75, he finally turned the keys over to Gary Henness and full retired.
Lyle enjoyed hunting, camping and clam digging with his sons and family. He also loved raising a vegetable garden, always saying if you can't eat it, no sense planting it. He was a lifetime member of Tillamook Elks Lodge and also a member of the Mill City Eagles.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jamice; sons, Lyle R. and wife Lori of Garibaldi, Raymond and wife Debbie of Pilot Rock; stepdaughters, Trudy Laremore and husband Michael of Newberg, Patreicia Arthur of Tillamook, and Annette Ripley and husband Martin of Tillamook; sister, Lorraine Trattner of Garibaldi; his sister-in-law, Darlene Stichler of Junction City; grandchildren, Ray Alan, Robbin, Sara, Matthew, Robert, Jessica, Michelle, Jake, Casey, Jay and Makayla. He also leaves five great-grandchildren; his two ex-wives, Dorothy Harris of Garibaldi and Doris Wilcox of Tillamook; and his two loving Springers, Susie Marie and Sally Marie. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; brother, Robert; and two brothers-in-law, Jack Stichler and Harlen Trattner.
At Lyle's request there will be no funeral.
The family expressed thanks to John and Nancy of Willamette Valley Hospice.
Obituary for Luther French in Jan. of 1896 as written in the Sutton Register on Jan. 25, 1896.
An Old Pioneer Gone.
Luther French died at his home east of Sutton Thursday morning Jan. 23, 1896. He suffered a stroke of paralysis Friday morning previous to his death and never spoke afterwards. The funeral took place Friday at 1:30 from the M.E. church, business was generally suspended from 1 to 3 o'clock and the funeral largely attended.
Luther French "the old pioneer" was born at Plainsville, Ohio, March 7, 1818, where he resided until 1840 when he moved to Indiana, residing there a year, then oving to Branch County Wisconsin where he married Emily Littlefield.
Mr. and Mrs. French had nine children, five boys and four girls are still living, Mrs. Eugene Corey being the eldest daughter.
Mr. French moved from Wisconsin to Iowa, where Mrs. French died in 1867.
In 1869 Mr. French and family came to Nebraska and farmed one year near Beaver Crossing, Seward county. June 5, 1870 Mr. French came to Clay county and located a homestead on the N1/2NW1/4 of section 2 T.8 R.5, and built a dougout on the south bank of School creek, near where the railroad bridge crosses the creek east of the city park.
In 1871 Mr. French being the owner of this land surveyed and laid out the original town, and therefore is entitled to honor of being known in history as the first settler and original propeietor of Sutton. He was also the first postmaster of Sutton and kept the office in his dugout. He was succedded as postmaster by the late Arthur Burlingame Sr.
Mr French was an exemplary citizen and enjoued the respect of a large circle of friends who will regret to hear of his death. His remains will rest in the Sutton Cemetery, where a sutiable monument commorative of his pioneer settlement, will be erected.

Obituary Doris Wilcox
Wilcox was born in Wheeler in 1928. She grew up in Tillamook, graduated from Tillamook High School, and lived here all her life.
Shortly after High school, Wilcox married, she had seven children.
She worked for the Smith Seafood Processing plant in Garibaldi for many years and waitressed at the Tillamook Eagles Lodge.
A graveside service for Wilcox will be held at 12:45 p.m. June 30 at Sunset Height Memorial Gardens.
Obituary for John T. Fouts
“McMinnville Oregon, Jun 15 (Special) - John T. Fouts, who
was born in Missouri, Jun 23, 1839, died here June 3. He was a son of Larkin Fouts, who came to
Oregon by ox team, crossing the plains and arriving in Portland in 1852, where
the family recuperated. Coming up the
river in boats, Larkin Fouts settled with his family in Yamhill County, near
what is now the City of Yamhill.
During
the Indian wars of 1855-1856 John T. Fouts served with distinction under
Captain Hembree. He returned to his farm
in Yamhill County, where he resided for over forty years, moving to Carlton and
later to McMinnville, where he had resided for several years.
Mr. Fouts was married
December 1, 1859 to Miss Eliza Sappington.
Both were prominent members of the Christian Church, Mr. Fouts being one
of the charter members of the Christian Church of Carlton. He was instrumental in the building of the church
edifice and obtained the ground. He was
also a member of the local Grange.
Mr. Fouts is survived
by four daughters and three sons, who are: O.J. Fouts, of Sheridan; Mrs.
W. Huntington, Seattle, Wash.; F. W. Fouts, Vancouver, Washington; J. L. Fouts,
Pendleton, Oregon; Mrs. J. E. Limpus of Carlton; Mrs. R. T. McCaskey and Miss
Margaret Fouts, both of McMinnville. He
was buried in the Yamhill Cemetery near his old farm home.”

HOWARD E.
HAUGEN
Howard E. Haugen, the son of Ole Haugen and
Sarah E. Miner Haugen was born in Bay City Feb 26, 1920 and died in Burns Aug
20, at the age of 68.
Mr. Haugen grew up and attended school in
Nehalem. After graduation from Nehalem
High School he started log scaling for the Columbia River Log Scalers in
Portland.
He was united in marriage to Ellen Pekkarinen
on June 8, 1946. Shortly after their marriage
they moved to Eureka, Calif. Where Howard log scaled from 1954 until 1969. They then returned to Portland where he
worked for Yamhill Log Scaling and grading until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Haugen served during World War II.
He is survived by his mother Sarah, Wheeler;
a daughter, Nancy Johnson, Sandy; two brothers, Oscar, Nehalem, Loren,
Livermore, Calf., a sister Gayle Harris, Roseburg.
Graveside services are schooled for Mr.
Haugen on Thursday, Aug 25 at the Bay City IOOF Cemetery, Bay City.

Myrtle Haugen died Oct. 22 in Eagle Creek.
She was 86 .
Mrs. Haugen, daughter of Sam and Beulah
Wilson, was born in Gage, Okla, on Feb. 14, 1905.
In the mid-1920’s she moved with her family
to Tillamook where her father found work on the Archie Pye dairy farm.
She was united in marriage to Peter Haugen
at her parent’s home in Tillamook on May 11, 1930. She was a member of the Church of God, The
Tillamook Quilters and the Tillamook county Pioneer Association. Her husband preceded her in death in 1958.
She is survived by her daughter, Junnita
Botlom of Battle Mountain, Nev; one son Wayne Haugen of Portland; One brother,
Clifford Wilson of Turner, three sisters, Alice Kleinke of Nyssa, Louis Biggs
of Salem and Orpha Mapes of Turner, six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren
and one great-great grandchild. Graveside services were held Oct 26 in the Bay
City IOOF Cemetery.

Sara Esther Haugen,
93, died in Wheeler on April 3.
She was the
daughter of Stansberry Miner and Clara Virginia Eads, and was born in Forrest
City, Ark. On Nov 5, 1897. She moved to
Tillamook County when she as 12 years old.
She completed school and then went to work milking cows.
She later met Ole
Haugen and was united in marriage to him on March 26, 1916 in Tillamook. The couple later moved to Wheeler and then
back to Idaville just north of Tillamook until 1938, when they moved to Salem
until 1955. Mr. Haugen died in 1954.
In 1955 Mrs. Haugen
health started to fail and she was placed in a care center in Roseburg until
1986 when she returned to Wheeler and was placed in the Nehalem Valley Care
Center.
Mrs. Haugen is survived
by one daughter, Gale Harris, Roseburg; two sons, Oscar Haugen, Nehalem, and
Willis Haugen, Livermore, Calif., One sister, Clara Squire, Tillamook; seven
grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Haugen were held on April 8 at
11 a.m. in the Bay City Odd fellows Cemetery with Fr. D.H. Shearer officiating.

Obit: EARTHY - (Mrs.) Frances Augustine (Browne), age 93 years, died at home on January 7, 1997. Frances was born in Hankow, China on Febuary 19, 1903. She emigrated with her family to Canada in 1922 and settled in Victoria, B.C. She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Joseph's Hospital and was presented with the Best Nurse Award in her graduating class of 1927. She nursed in Campbell River and Chemainus, then returned to Victoria in 1941 to accept head nurse position of men's surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital until her retirement in 1959. She enjoyed traveling and delighted in watching and assisting in the development of her grandchildren. Fanny or Brownie, as she was called, is survived by her husband, Bernard (Bob) Earthy; three children, Bernard Earthy of Summerland, Bryan Earthy of Victoria and Marie Teitge fo Saltspring Island. She also is survived by her younger sister, Norah Whitehouse. She leaves behind many grandchildern and great grandchildren, plus many friends and nursing associates. Robert F. Bonin
Robert Frances Bonin, 36 a former Tillamook
residence, die Sunday, Feb. 17, at his home in Banks, following an extended
illness.
Mr. Bonin was born on July 28, 1943. A fireman, he was active in Emergency Radio
Patrol and local CB club, known by the nickname “Straight Arrow.” He joined the Navy following high school,
serving for three year. He and his family had lived in Banks for past 6 years.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, and three
sons, Robert, age 14, and twins, Thomas and Dennis, 11, all of Banks; two
brothers Kenneth, of Gresham, and Melvin, Chehalis, Wash; and grandmother,
Sarah Bonin, of Beaver.
Recitation of the Rosary was held Tuesday,
19, with memorial Services on Wednesday , Feb 20, at St Francis Church, with
the Rev. Stephen Breitenstein officiating.
Burial was in the Union Point Cemetery in Banks.
Pallbearers were Larry Applegate, Mickey
Ochs, Norman Smith, Gerry Condon, Jim Harmon and William Hulet.
Funeral arrangements were in care of the
Schneider Funeral Home in Banks.
Memorial

LORRAINE TRATTNER
Lorraine Eva
Trattner passed away at her home on this day Wednesday November 28, 2012. Her loving son was at her side so she was not
alone.
Lorraine was
born to Charles Alfred Wilcox and Blanche Frances (Fouts) Wilcox on April 11, 1923,
In Woods, Tillamook, Oregon.
Lorraine graduated
from Garibaldi High School in 1942. She
had already met and had been dating the love of her life and soul mate and she
married Harlin Richard Trattner on Aug 23, 1942 in Vancouver, Clark, WA.
To this union
two children were born, daughter, Deanna Lorraine (Trattner) Whitehouse; son,
Richard Lyle Trattner.
Lorraine
worked in Garibaldi for the Edmonds Crab Company for about 20 years.
Lorraine and
Harlin were always together, you never saw one without the other. They loved to go hunting, fishing, they had
their own fishing boat and they commercial fished for salmon. Lorraine loved to crochet and made many
doilies, bed covers, chair covers and much more. She loved to read old westerns.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, Charles Alfred Wilcox in 1948 and Blanche Francis
(Fouts) Wilcox in 1961 both of Garibaldi.
Brother’s Robert F. Sadler in 1943 of Garibaldi, Husband Harlin Richard
Trattner in 1999 at home. Brother, Lyle
Alfred Wilcox 2007 in Gates Marion, Oregon.
Son in-law, Henry John Whitehouse 2012 in Seattle, WA.

two children, daughter, Deanna Lorraine (Trattner) Whitehouse of Seattle, WA.,
And Son, Richard Lyle & Lynda Trattner of Tillamook, Or. Grandchildren, Richard Earl Trattner of
Salem, Andrew Lee Trattner of Salem, Daniel George Trattner of Tillamook,
Denise and Ivan Wolfe of Caldwell, Idaho.
Three Nephews, and six Great Grandchildren.
Private services for family this Summer when her ashes will be placed beside her husband's at the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Bay City, Oregon.
